General Services & Materials

A wide variety. We work with educational materials, textbooks, business and personal documents, music, testing materials, presentations, manuals, financial and insurance documents, and much more. Projects can range from a single document to large, multi-volume or ongoing projects.

We work with K–12 schools, universities, translation companies, businesses, healthcare organizations, libraries, government agencies, and individuals throughout the United States and globally. Whether you need one document or have a large ongoing braille project, we would be happy to discuss your needs.

Send us what you have. We can work from hard-copy books, PDFs, Microsoft Word documents, PowerPoint presentations, music notation files, image files, and many other formats. Digital materials can usually be emailed, while hard-copy materials may be mailed directly to our office.
For K–12 public education projects, if a NIMAS file is available through NIMAC.us, please assign it to Braille and More.

Yes. If you mail physical books or documents to our office for transcription, we will return them to you when the project is completed.
Please note that bound books may need to be cut at the spine so the pages can be separated for scanning and transcription. If you need a book returned intact, please let us know before sending it so we can discuss other options.
If you prefer or require original print materials to be securely shredded after the project is completed rather than returned, just let us know.

Braille Codes & Specialized Services

Our team includes specialists experienced in a wide range of braille codes and subject areas, including UEB literary braille, UEB technical materials, Nemeth Code, foreign-language materials, chemistry, and music braille. Collectively, our team holds certifications across the major areas of braille transcription, including literary braille, Nemeth Code, music braille, proofreading, braille formats, and tactile graphics.
One of the advantages of working with Braille and More is that we don’t expect one person to be an expert in every subject. We match each project with a BAM Specialist whose experience fits the material.

Yes. We create tactile graphics for everything from textbook diagrams and maps to mathematics, science, chemistry, anatomy, and other subjects requiring visual information to be represented tactually.
Tactile graphics can be produced as part of a larger braille transcription project or discussed as a separate need.
As an example, we served as the Lead Vendor for a major U.S. university during a five-year doctoral program in pharmaceutical studies. We reproduced some extraordinarily challenging tactile graphics to support the student through graduation and into postgraduate laboratory studies.

Absolutely. Music braille is where our story began! Braille and More provides professional music braille transcription as part of our full range of services. Our original specialized music service, Braille Music and More, continues to focus specifically on music braille transcription.

Yes. We work with both K–12 and higher education. College and university projects may include textbooks, course materials, mathematics and science, music, testing materials, tactile graphics, and other accessible materials needed by a student.

Yes. We work with businesses and organizations needing accessible documents for their customers, employees, and clients. These can include statements, contracts, insurance and financial materials, healthcare documents, forms, manuals, and other business communications.
We also work with translation companies and other organizations that need a reliable braille partner for their own clients.

Yes. For early learners, kindergarten materials, and specialized testing, we can adjust formatting to meet specific developmental or testing accommodations following BANA’s Guidelines for the Transcription of Early Educational Materials from Print to Braille. Depending on the project, this may include increased line spacing, single-sided embossing, uncontracted braille, or other requested specifications. Tell us what the student or testing accommodation requires, and we’ll discuss the best approach.

Production, Quality & Delivery

We take privacy and confidentiality seriously. Documents are handled with professionalism and discretion, and we are happy to sign Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDAs) when needed. We can also discuss secure file-handling requirements for sensitive legal, financial, medical, corporate, or testing materials before a project begins.

Yes. We can provide completed electronic BRF files for local production, or we can emboss, bind, and ship professionally produced hard-copy braille volumes. We can discuss which option works best for your project.

We offer professional binding options appropriate to the size and use of the material, including plastic comb binding when appropriate. Completed volumes are carefully inspected, securely packaged, and shipped to clients throughout the United States. Free Matter for the Blind shipping may also be available for qualifying materials and recipients. International shipping can require additional planning, and we’re happy to discuss the options for your project.

We carefully match each project with one or more BAM Specialists based on the subject matter, braille code, complexity, and project requirements.
Our team includes specialists with expertise in different areas, so a mathematics textbook, music score, business document, and chemistry project do not necessarily go to the same person. That’s one of the reasons we built a team.

Our transcription projects typically include independent proofreading to help ensure accuracy, consistency, and adherence to current braille standards. Corrections identified during proofreading are returned to the transcriber and resolved before the project is completed.

Pricing & Project Timelines

Braille transcription is typically priced per completed braille page rather than by print page or word count. The total cost depends on the complexity of the material, the braille codes and technical formatting required, the number and complexity of tactile graphics, and any production needs such as embossing and binding. Because every project is different, we review your source materials and provide a customized, itemized estimate before work begins.

Send us your source materials along with as much information as possible about the project, including your desired format, deadline, and whether you need electronic BRF files, embossed hard copy, or both.
We review the materials before preparing an estimate so that we can evaluate the complexity, braille codes, tactile graphics, production requirements, and other factors that may affect the project. For K–12 public education projects, if a NIMAS file is available through NIMAC.us, please assign it to Braille and More.

Turnaround time depends on the size and complexity of the project, the type of braille required, the number of tactile graphics, proofreading requirements, and your requested delivery schedule. Many projects can be completed in approximately two to three weeks, while complex textbooks and other large projects may take longer.
We will discuss your timeline during the estimating process and establish a realistic schedule before work begins. For large educational projects, we can also discuss delivery schedules that follow a course syllabus rather than waiting until an entire book is completed.

We understand that accessibility needs can arise unexpectedly. Turnaround depends on the size and complexity of the material, but our team-based structure allows us to accommodate expedited or rush timelines whenever possible. Contact us as soon as possible to discuss your deadline and available options.

Yes. Our nationwide team of more than 30 experienced braille specialists allows us to match projects with the appropriate expertise and, when needed, coordinate multiple specialists on larger assignments. We have experience with projects ranging from individual documents to large educational and high-volume transcription projects.

Organizations & Purchasing

Yes. If your school, university, business, government agency, or other organization requires vendor registration or other paperwork before work can begin, we can complete the necessary documentation.
We also accept purchase orders from organizations that use them as part of their purchasing process.

Yes. Braille and More has experience responding to formal Requests for Proposal (RFPs) and working within institutional procurement requirements. For example, we successfully bid on and were awarded a five-year contract with a major U.S. university to provide braille materials for a student in pharmaceutical studies. We are comfortable reviewing detailed specifications, preparing formal proposals, completing vendor documentation, and working within the requirements of universities, government agencies, and other organizations.

Absolutely. Braille and More serves clients throughout the United States and globally. Source materials, project communication, and electronic files can all be exchanged digitally. We can also ship completed embossed materials directly to you. International shipping can require some additional planning, but we’re happy to discuss the options for your project.

Our preferred method of payment is ACH direct deposit. We also accept checks, credit card payments (with an additional 3.5% processing fee for all cards), and payments through certain payment apps, including Zelle, Venmo, and Cash App. If your organization has specific payment requirements, please let us know and we can discuss the available options.

Getting Started

That’s okay. You don’t need to know the braille code or production method before contacting us.
Send us the materials and tell us what you’re trying to accomplish. We’ll review the project, ask questions when needed, and help determine the appropriate approach.

Contact Braille and More and tell us about your project. If you already have the source materials, send them along so we can review exactly what is involved.
From there, we’ll discuss your needs, prepare an estimate, establish a timeline, and match the project with the appropriate BAM Specialist.
